The Perfect Time to Go to Disneyland

When is the best time to go to the Disneyland Resort?

This is one of the questions I get asked all the time. Usually, people asking me this want to avoid crazy crowds and long wait times (we feel you!). And I wish there was one simple answer to give you, but it really depends on one big question…

Are you willing to take your kids out of school or are you sticking with school scheduled breaks?

This helps me gauge how I would answer the “when should we go” question. And honestly, there are pros and cons either way.

If you ARE willing to take the kids out of school to experience the happiest place on earth, then expect smaller crowds and shorter wait times. BUT during these times of year, chances of high profile attractions being shut down for maintenance increase. If you aren’t too worried about every single attraction being available to you, then here are my recommended times for taking the kids out of school for a magical getaway:

  • Midweek, 2nd week of February

  • Midweek, 1st week of March

  • Midweek, 3rd week of April

  • Midweek, first 3 weeks of May

  • Midweek, last week of August

  • Midweek, 2nd week of September

  • Midweek, 3rd week of October

  • Midweek, 1st week of November

If you would prefer a weekend with taking the kids out of school one or two days, here are my recommendations:

  • Last two weekends in January

  • First weekend in February

  • Second weekend in March

  • 3rd weekend of April

  • First weekend of May

  • Second weekend of September

  • Last weekend of October

  • First weekend of November

And now if you are keeping those kids in school no matter what and will only plan your Disney trip during spring, summer or winter breaks,  then my only recommendation is to include a VIP Tour experience in your Disneyland Resort vacation. By booking a VIP Tour, you will have a Disney cast member personally escort you and be at your service for the majority of your day, taking you to the front of every attraction and making sure your day is perfectly curated for your family. This is absolutely the way to go if you truly want to avoid wait times and not think twice about crowds during the high traffic seasons. For more information on taking advantage of this option, contact us HERE and we’ll help answer your questions and get you started on the Disney VIP experience for your family’s next trip.
